If you're trying to find a trustworthy place to start your tattoo apprenticeship near Colorado Springs, you're in the right spot. Certified Tattoo Academy offers hands-on apprenticeship programs that give you real studio experience, structured mentorship, and flexible scheduling.

Whether you're fresh out of high school, changing careers, or just tired of gatekeeping in the tattoo world, this program gives you a clear path into the industry.

What You'll Learn During the Apprenticeship

This is not a classroom-style course. You’ll learn by doing, with real feedback and practical assignments. Here’s what the program covers:

  • Tattoo machine setup and needle handling

  • Linework, shading, and color packing

  • Health and safety protocols

  • Flash design and working with real clients

  • Studio professionalism and legal tattooing practices

You'll start by shadowing artists, then gradually begin tattooing under supervision.

Do You Need Experience?

No tattooing experience is required to apply. Many of our students start with no background in tattooing at all. If you’ve done some sketching, digital art, or even just doodled seriously, that helps. What matters most is your dedication and consistency.

We’ve helped students go from beginner to shop-ready in as little as six to eight weeks.

What You Need to Start

To join the apprenticeship, you should have:

  • A strong interest in tattooing and a willingness to learn

  • A few art samples or a basic portfolio (pencil sketches are fine)

  • Commitment to show up regularly (we offer flexible scheduling to fit your life)

We’ll guide you through every step, from gathering supplies to meeting Colorado licensing requirements.

What Sets This Program Apart

No gatekeeping

  • Flexible scheduling including weekends and summer sessions

  • Curriculum designed by Nando Mondragon, a respected tattoo entrepreneur

  • Training in branding, business setup, and client-building

  • A record of more than 50 artists successfully trained

This isn’t just about tattoos. It’s about building a long-term career with the skills and support to grow.

How Long Is the Apprenticeship?

Our program is flexible and based on your goals:

  • 6-week option if you want to start with basic flash tattooing

  • Up to 6 months for full professional certification and studio-readiness

You can choose the track that fits your schedule and pace.

Can I Visit Before Applying?
